Strength In Numbers – Rock Your Rack Begins Saturday

N256 Strength In Numbers BlogI live alone in RL. Well, not totally alone, I do have my dog, but there are no other humans in my house. I’ve lived alone for about eight years and honestly, I’m ok with it. I like my space and unless I find that special someone…I prefer just living on my own…except…

Except when I’m sick or injured. Or even when thinking about possible accidents. Fortunately none of those things happens often. Although yesterday, I took a pretty good fall down the stairs when I woke up. I was really groggy after a rough Tuesday, only slept about three hours and then missed a step as I was going downstairs to get my coffee. Fortunately, nothing more than my ego was hurt. As I sat at the bottom of the steps making sure I was ok, I thought about how grateful I was to not be seriously injured…and also thought about those who aren’t doing so well and may be alone.

Rock Your Rack starts on Saturday, September 29. When I made the RYR blogging team, I was really excited. I’m a new blogger and so this was a great opportunity for me. It’s also an important cause as I’ve had multiple friends who have battled breast cancer. I’ve watched so many suffer from this disease with me working in health care. And then, with me transitioning, breast cancer is a very real concern for me now. It’s a cause I believe in.

As I thought further, I thought about a friend of mine who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. When she first received her diagnosis, she was living alone with no family near by. Fortunately, her child is with her now but my heart broke for her as she received her initial diagnosis and had no one there to be with her. Here I was worried about being alone after a simple fall down the stairs. She had endured being alone for several days when she received her diagnosis.

As I said, Rock Your Rack starts this weekend. Proceeds will be going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. This is a worthy cause. Please help support it.

My friend Melenda has always reminded me that we find strength in numbers. We find those who believe in us and support us. We work together to enact positive change. She reminds me that by uniting together against a common enemy, in this case breast cancer, we can and will defeat it.

Let’s all come out over the next two weeks and support this great cause. Let’s help put an end to breast cancer. ❤️
