Wardrobe. Ok, I admit it…putting a new wardrobe together is scaring the hell out of me. Outside of the rejection and discrimination fears in daily life, putting together a wardrobe really is one of the scariest aspects of transitioning for me.
Part of that is actually getting out to the stores and trying things on. Sizes are going to be such a pain in the ass for a while as I have more physical changes. And before I can pass well, dealing with trying clothes on the stores is extremely nerve wracking. Right now, I order things online and try them on at home, returning them to the store if they don’t fit in exchange for the proper size.
The other part that scares me is, lets be honest…men’s wardrobes are so plain, relatively speaking. Compared to men, there are so many more clothing options for women…and so many more levels of dress. Its both incredibly exciting and confusing for someone like myself to explore all the different options. Don’t get me wrong, I will probably be a casual girl most days, but thinking about getting dressed up in dresses and skirts to go out is incredibly exciting for someone who have never had that opportunity before.
I will say this though…one of the true blessings of being Tiffany here in SL…I have been able to learn a great deal about what colors I like, what colors go well with what and things of that nature. I know that will only makes things slightly easier…but then again, it is something!
So…are any of my girlfriends up for helping me shop in RL?
