The Comforts of Home

N524 The Comforts Of Home

Its been a crazy week and work and that is just going to continue for me for a while.  As I have written before, we are horribly short staffed and so I am still covering odd shifts and hours.  The good news is that part of the reason this week is so crazy is because we have stacked interviews all through the week.  HR has finally sent me a huge stack of applicants who actually seem to want a good job…and I think that within a couple of weeks, we actually might have offers out on all of our vacant positions.

All of this craziness at work has truly made me cherish coming home at the end of the day.  My plush, comfy sofa, my music, my dog…all of it helps me unwind at the end of the day.  Also, just walking into my door is refreshing because I can get out of those clothes I hate so much and put on an oversized t-shirt, nice comfy shorts or yoga pants and just relax.  I need that more and more with the way things have been at the office.

On a side note, I felt rather pressured at work today to give an exact date on when I will be presenting full time.  It was a really weird conversation with my boss where she was expressing frustration that I wasn’t full time yet and she was pushing for a date.  I think the thing that kind of upset me about the discussion is, no offense to any of you, I want to know that date more than anyone out there!  Problem for me is trying to get this damn wardrobe together.  Its not as easy as some might thing.  And the cost alone is more than people realize.  I mean, my friends locally keep referring me to sales at the mall, and I’m like, “GIRL!!! I can’t afford that starting out.  And also…I’ve got more changes coming with my body which means a whole new wardrobe within a year!  It’s thrift store shopping for now!”

I’ll get there, obviously.  And I am not giving them some set date now, forcing me to rush to get a wardrobe together.  That would be incredibly stupid, especially financially.

But you know, days like that make me appreciate my little oasis here at home even more.  Shouldn’t we all feel a wave of relaxation most days we walk into our homes?

Tiff, I don’t understand how anyone could think it was their place to push you on when you present. It’s so personal and kinda complicated, it should be your decision and no one else’s.
