Did You Call Me A Pumpkin Slut?

N588 Did You Call Me A Pumpkin Slut Blog

I think fall has arrived in Virginia and I couldn’t be happier about it!

It was a really warm September here…much warmer than I ever recall.  In fact, most of September was warmer than July and August…which was really bizarre.  I had been aching for the cooler weather.  I was missing my oversized sweatshirts and leggings.  Thankfully, that weather has finally arrived and I am actually bundled up under my favorite sweatshirt blanket right now.

And with some vacation time coming up next week, I may actually spend a few evenings out on the deck with a bottle of wine and the fire pit going.  That would just be perfect!

Obviously fall means Halloween is right around the corner.  I don’t get as excited as I used to about Halloween.  I have always loved Halloween.  But moving to where I live now, its hard to celebrate it.  For years, I lived in this amazing neighborhood that had lots of children in it and we made Halloween this big social event in the neighborhood.  We would all get dressed up and set up tables in front of our houses.  In my case, my neighbor and I would set up one table together, have a cooler of…cool frosty beverages…with us and just have the kids come to our table for candy from both of our houses.  It was always so much fun!

Now, I live on a busy road with no sidewalks…so therefore no kids trick or treating.  Additionally, my neighbors just aren’t very social.  Everyone kind of keeps to themselves where I live now.  Not that anyone is rude or anything…its more like everyone just lives in their own little bubble.  It makes it hard to really get into holidays like Halloween.  So yeah…I miss all of the fun that comes with Halloween.

No candy for the kids.  No pumpkins to carve.  No decorations going up in the yard to add that spooky touch.  Its kind of blah…

I guess I will just cherish the fact that fall has finally arrived.  Pumpkin Spice Lattes, fire pits, warm blankets, cider, college football…all the wonderful traditions that make fall what it is for me.  And finally…FINALLY…the leaves are starting to change colors here.  Its going to be a very late peak on the leaf colors this year.  Thankfully I have a lot of trees in my backyard, so I will get a beautiful color show from Mother Nature.

The only downside to the beautiful leaves?  Cleaning them up!

Anyone know of a cute yard guy I could watch from the window while he gets the leaves out of my yard? 😉

See it on Flickr.
