Merry Christmas, everyone!!! ♥
Christmas Eve is finally here. Most people are preparing for dinners with family or friends, doing last minute shopping…or they are like me and they are doing everything they can to get out of the office as quickly as possible…
As we all prepare to celebrate the holidays in our own unique ways, I just have a few things I want to say. I promise to keep it pretty short. 😉
Please cherish your time with friends or family. For many years, I struggled with my mom’s side of the family…for reasons that don’t really matter. Last year, I was shunned by them and, along with the loneliness that comes from spending a holiday alone, I was also left with the thought that I may never be able to repair those relationships. Thankfully, I have been given the opportunity to do that when I was invited back home for this holiday seasons. Either put the differences aside for the holiday or work to heal. You never know when the opportunity to do that will be stripped from you.
Keep your friends and family who may be alone in your thoughts and check on them. Last year, I was blessed to have friends, SL and RL, who checked on my continually throughout the holidays after being shunned by my family. Its hard and, in the chaos of the holidays, we often forget those who may be alone. Don’t forget them. Check on them. Let them know they matter too. ♥
Remember what this season is about. Family…friends…love…relationships. Presents are always nice but the sense of being a part of something bigger, feeling loved, accepted and supported are often far greater gifts than anything you can pick up in the store. I know this from personal experience.
Don’t be afraid to take time for yourself. The holidays can be overwhelming with so many people around and so many expectations of us. Don’t be afraid to go sit by yourself, go for a walk or take a drive if you need to. Family can be stressful. Make sure to take care of you.
I think that’s it for my holidays tips and tricks this year. I’m not going to say anything about what we should or should not eat. Lord knows I will be stuffing myself on my family’s homemade food tonight! lol
I want to wish all of you a very merry Christmas, happy holidays or whatever it is you celebrate this time of you. What you celebrate doesn’t matter as it is as unique as each of us are. All that matters is that you celebrate love, life, family, friends and the end of another year.
Before I wrap up, I have to say…I cannot thank Claire enough for putting up with me to get those photo. Sometimes, my zeal for the best sets gets the better of me and, well, I end up going through two or three sets before we found something I was happy with. She was amazing though in tolerating me through it all and we managed to stay in the Christmas spirit the whole time. 🙂
So with all that being said…wishing you and yours a wonderful and safe holiday season. Be safe, love those around you and cherish the moments with those close you. ♥
